Among her endeavours as a paragon of progressive views, Virginia was a leading campaigner against apartheid in South Africa and racism in the Methodist Church. She was a fighter for women’s emancipation, a social entrepreneur and community activist. Virginia’s commitment to children also led her to co-initiate and lead the Sibusisiwe Child and Family Welfare Society. In recognition of her extraordinary achievements and contributions, Virginia received numerous honours, including the highest and most prestigious awards.
